The quote "Ol' school realism with futuristic intelligence" describes G-Deep's music style very well. It's easy for a DJ to take one loop and twist it over a beat, but it
takes imagination and creativity to come up with original sounds and
lyrics. G-Deep is all about originality, as soon as he learned his ABCs
he was putting words into sentences and sentences into beautiful lyrics. He is a triple threat - singer, song-writer, and composer.
G-Deep (the son of Punjab) takes pride in his music. He does this for his culture. He wants to preserve and promote it.
He has sold out shows by the thousands and has performed in several University Bhangra competitions throughout the US, India Day Edison, and New York's India Independence day parade and after party – the largest in the nation.
G-Deep's biggest influences are Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Gurdas Maan. He considers Gurdas Maan as his Guru. Maan has inspired G-Deep to master the craft of improvising while performing on stage. Several arrogant DJs have tried to trip up G-Deep but he can rap himself out of any beat.
After hooking up with P NOX Productions, it led G-Deep to work on mix tapes produced by Lucky Johal, DJ Sharad, DJ Fresh and many more. G-Deep collaborated with hip hop artists such as Don Revo, Young Pharaoh, Nivla, and Raja Wilco, where the essences of Punjabi vocals met Hip Hop. This is probably one of G-Deep's strongest aspects
- he stays true to traditional Punjabi beats and vocals to satisfy the older generation's ears. He's also able to reach the younger generation by fusing Hip Hop and Punjabi sound together.
2007 was a massive and productive year for G-Deep. He was featured on
Times Music's mix tape - Party in Punjab. The songs did great in India; the "two puffs" track is massive in clubs in around India. He also did a "Cricket Anthem" commercial for the Cricket World Cup '07, which was broadcasted on the Dish Network. The sponsors were impressed with G-Deep's style and flow and the commercial was certainly a huge milestone in G-Deep's musical career. He did a LIVE akhara as well in Punjab – both the akhara and the commercial can be seen on youtube.com and myspace.com. (You can add his direct links to the my space and you tube pages) You can hear him on songstress Lady Ru's first album "My Addiction" which was a chart buster. He continues to work with P Nox and will be featured on Young Pharaoh’s mix tape.
Upon signing with "Times Music India"
this will catapult G-Deep's career to a worldly renowned status.
His fan base in India has certainly grown since the signing and
the fans wait in anticipation for G-Deep's debut album drop. He's
been on the scene for a few years now and is completely ready
to take it by storm. He is the first Punjabi artist from America
to be signed to Times Music. G-Deep’s Debut Album Songs
of My Life – Meri Zindagi De Geet will be releasing soon
and it will feature production from P.Nox, RVM Sounds, Paul Tiger,
MinDesign, Yogesh and many more.
